Rajasthan is India at its most theatrical — the land of maharajas, painted havelis, turbaned horsemen, and golden dunes that glow at dusk. For couples, it offers a rare combination: royal luxury at accessible prices, and landscapes that feel cinematic at every turn.
The classic Rajasthan circuit for couples is Jaipur → Jodhpur → Jaisalmer → Udaipur.
Jaipur: Start with the Pink City — Amber Fort at sunrise, Hawa Mahal at magic hour, and dinner at Suvarna Mahal inside Rambagh Palace (splurge-worthy at ₹5,000 per head).
Jodhpur: The Blue City viewed from Mehrangarh Fort is one of India's most stunning vistas. Stay in a heritage haveli in the old city for full effect.
Jaisalmer: A desert camp overnight is non-negotiable — camel ride at sunset, dinner under the stars, folk music around a bonfire.
Udaipur: Save the best for last. The City of Lakes is India's most romantic city. A boat ride on Lake Pichola at dusk, watching the City Palace reflect in the water, is an experience you won't forget.
Train: Rajasthan Rail Pass (₹1,555 for 7 days, non-AC) covers all major cities. Book sleeper or 3AC for overnight journeys — much more comfortable than buses.
Private Cab: Hiring a driver for the full circuit (Jaipur → Udaipur) costs ₹18,000–25,000 for a 7-day trip. Split between a couple, this is excellent value and gives flexibility.
Flights: Fly into Jaipur, end in Udaipur — this avoids a circular backtrack and saves a day.
